The Tri-Force Drug Unit, composed of the Ontario Provincial Police, Thunder Bay Police, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested two subjects in two incidents, on the city’s north side at the same location, on 30 November 2001.
Police, acting on information, attended a north end hotel to conduct a drug investigation. This investigation resulted in the seizure of ¼ kilo of marihuana. Police also seized $1,940.00 in cash. Police arrested a 50-year-old male on charges of possession for the purposes of trafficking and proceeds of crime. This male was released for court for the 28 December 2001.
While the police were conducting the above investigation, they observed other activity in the area of the hotel. Police followed up on their suspicions and arrested a 28-year-old male when police located approximately ¼ kilo of cocaine and a small amount of marihuana. Police also seized $930.00 in cash. The 28-year-old male faces charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking [two counts] and proceeds of crime. The male is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The potential street value of the drugs seized is in excess of $30,000.00.
