The Tri-Force Drug Unit, composed of the Thunder Bay Police, OPP and RCMP, executed two search warrants in the city that resulted in the arrest of 8 city residents.
A warrant executed on a Dease St. Thunder Bay residence resulted in the seizure of several marihuana plants and a quantity of dried marihuana. Police also seized a prohibited knife. A 29-year-old male and a 27-year-old female face charges of production of a controlled substance, possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon. Two males, aged 31 and 69, and a 66-year-old female face charges of production of a controlled substance and possession for the purposes of trafficking. All have been released for court in December 01.
In a second investigation, unit members, acting on information from Canada Customs executed a search warrant on a Crooks St. Thunder Bay address. Police seized a shipment of mestanolone, an anabolic steroid imported from China. Police also seized a small quantity of hash oil and the occupants were found producing psilocibin (magic mushroom). A 22-year-old male faces importing a controlled substance, production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Two males, aged 24 and 22 face production of controlled substance charges. All have been released from custody and will appear in Thunder Bay Court in December 01.
The potential street value of the drugs seized is $7,000.00.
