REENACTMENTS
Reenactment #525
For Release: 22 - 26 January 2001
The Kenora O.P.P. and Crime Stoppers need your help this week to solve a theft of money from a vehicle.
On the 09th of January 2001, a teacher of Our Lady of the Valley Elementary School advised police that she had, in her car, approximately $100.00 in rolled pennies and a small bag of silver change totaling approximately $10.00.
The vehicle had been parked at the school all day and then the Judo Club later that evening. Some time during the day or evening, an unknown suspect entered the van and removed the money. The money was not noticed missing until the next morning. The students had to work hard at home and at school to raise this money and all of the money raised was to go to the Holy Childhood Foundation.
If you have any information about this theft or any other theft, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. You don’t have to give your name and you could earn a cash reward of up to $2,000.00
Reenactment #526
For Release: 05 - 09 February 01
A small part of Police Identification Officers jobs entail attending and taking photographs at traffic accidents where serious injuries or deaths are involved.
A large number of these accidents involve drinking drivers. Alcohol is involved in the death or injury of people everyday on our streets and highways.
The decision not to combine alcohol and driving must be made before the drinking begins, before alcohol clouds rational thought.
Police spot checks are designed to prevent alcohol related accidents and police have the authority to charge a person without evidence of a breath test based on the officer’s judgement. Failure to provide a breath sample upon request, either at a roadside or in police station carries the same penalties as impaired driving.
You can help save a life by reporting a drunk driver. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. You don’t have to give your name and you could earn a cash reward.
